The plot of the movie is based on the killing of John F. Kennedy and the investigation that followed. The movie starts with the murder of President Marc Jarry, who is about to start a second six-year term in office. Henri Volney, who is a state attorney and a member of the commission (based on the Warren Commission) that is investigating the assassination, won't agree with the commission's final conclusions. The movie shows how this first caused a lot of trouble and how Volney and his team reopened the investigation.
