Jack Calgrove, a Civil War POW, moves heaven and earth to be reunited with his children. After arriving home, Jack discovers that his wife has sadly died and his children, assumed orphans, are on a train crossing enemy lines to be placed in other homes. Calgrove and another soldier form a team with a group of Native American sharpshooters and a freed slave as they try to halt the train.
