Horrors of Malformed Men

Asylum-bound Hirosuke (Teruo Yoshida), a medical student with no memory of his background, is locked in a mental institution. Soon after his escape from the lunatic asylum, he is mistakenly accused of the murder of a circus girl, Genzaburo Komoda. Hirosuke fools everyone, including Komoda's widow and mistress, by claiming to be the deceased man's resurrected persona. He recalls memories that inspire him to visit Jogoro, Genzaburo's web-fingered father on a nearby island. With Jogoro's aspirations to construct his "ideal community" (by transforming perfectly normal persons into grotesque monsters) revealed, Hirosuke realizes the dreadful truth about his own identity as well.
