Colin Ware, a British artist, learns that his fiancée, Vera, is engaged to be married to someone else. He boards a plane for America, where he arrives in the small hamlet of Hope in New England, distraught and dejected. Colin is depressed at first, but when his innkeepers introduce him to Mandy, a gorgeous nurse, he realizes that he has found more than a shoulder to weep on.
