Harry & Snowman
After World War II, Dutch immigrant Harry deLeyer traveled to the United States and formed a transformative relationship with a broken down Amish plow horse he rescued from a slaughter truck bound for the glue factory. Harry paid $80 for the horse and named him Snowman. In less than two years, Harry and Snowman went on to win the triple crown of show jumping, defeating the nation's blue bloods, and they became famous and traveled around the world together. Their chance meeting at a horse auction in Pennsylvania saved them both and formed a friendship that would last a lifetime. Harry, 86, tells their Cinderella love story firsthand as he continues to train on today's show jumping circuit.
