Gambler Nathan Detroit doesn't have many places to set up his big craps game. Nathan bets Sky Masterson that Sky can't get virtuous Sarah Brown out on a date. Nathan needs $1,000 to pay the owner of the garage where the game is going to be held. Despite some opposition, Sky agrees to go on a date with her in exchange for people joining her cause. Nathan's long-term girlfriend, Adelaide, wants him to marry her.
