Aditya is a young Maharashtrian from London who travels to Pune in search of someone to teach him traditional Maharashtrian cooking. His long-term goal is to open a Marathi Gourmet Restaurant in London. In search of the ideal guru, he meets Radha, an eccentric woman who makes lunch boxes for students and working men in her neighborhood. Before Radha will accept Aditya as a student, he must pass a series of tests. But once she begins teaching him, Aditya's life takes a new turn. Gulabjaam is a food film in which Marathi food plays an almost secondary role.
