While on the run, John Hall arrives in a little town in the state of Maine. When he can't get a job anywhere else, he decides to apply for a position at the town's largest textile factory. With a few others, he is employed to work the "graveyard shift" (about midnight to morning) and is responsible for cleaning the basement.
