Amin reflects on his life as a child refugee from Afghanistan, mostly told through animation to protect his identity, as he struggles with a secret he's kept hidden for 20 years. A thrilling documentary made with a combination of animation and archive footage tells an incredibly powerful story about a gay Afghan survivor and his need to confront his past in order to truly have a future. Amin arrived in Denmark from Afghanistan as an unaccompanied minor. He is now 36 years old and a successful academic who is about to marry his long-term boyfriend. A secret he's kept hidden for over 20 years threatens to derail the life he's built for himself. He's telling his story to a close friend for the first time. FLEE weaves a stunning tapestry of images and memories to tell the deeply moving and unique story of a young man grappling with his traumatic past in order to discover his true self and the meaning of home.
