Assassins in the Danish resistance with red hair, Bent Faurschou-Hviid ("Flame") and Jrgen Haagen Schmith ("Citron"), work for Winther, who is in direct contact with Allied leaders and gives them orders while the Nazis are in control of Denmark. One shoots, and the other drives. Up until1944, they only kill Danes. In1944, Winther tells them to start killing Germans. When a target tells Bent that Winther is using them to settle personal scores, doubt starts to set in. This is made worse by Bent's relationship with the mysterious Kitty Selmer, who may be a double agent. Also, there is a traitor in their group. Can Bent and Jrgen kill a "uber-target," avoid being caught, and still make it through the war? Is this bravery, naivety, or just pure hatred?
