Empire of Passion

A young man engages in sexual relations with an elderly woman. He is envious of her husband and determines they should assassinate him. They strangle the spouse one night after he has consumed a large amount of sake and has gone to bed. They then dump his body down a well. To allay concerns, she claims her spouse has gone to work in Tokyo. The wife and her lover have been secretly seeing each other for three years. Finally, suspicions grow to a fever pitch, and people begin gossiping. To add insult to injury, her husband's spirit begins to haunt her, and the law is called in to investigate her husband's disappearance.
