Francisco is wealthy, upstanding in his beliefs, and yet a single man with no children. After meeting Gloria by chance, he becomes instantly obsessed with the prospect of her becoming his wife, and he begins courting her until she agrees to marry him. Francisco is a devoted husband, but his devotion for his wife begins to take on alarming characteristics as time goes on. The others who know them, however, are skeptical of Gloria when she expresses her concerns about their situation.
