Dracula 2000 is a prequel to this film. Father Uffizi [Jason Scott Lee] is a vampire hunter who lives in the woods. His ultimate purpose is to discover Dracula (revealed as Judas Iscariot in Dracula2000), pardon his sins against Jesus, liberate his soul, and terminate his wicked existence by beheading them with his bullwhip. He travels the world to accomplish this. As a result, when Dracula's burnt body is discovered at the New Orleans morgue, Uffizi immediately goes there. Liz Blaine [Diane Neal] and Luke [Jason London] are medical students who are tasked with performing an autopsy on the body. This suggests to Luke that this person was a vampire because he didn't create his own blood but instead acquired it from somewhere else, like a vampire's blood supply.
