Bloom Towne is a small-town sheriff who works for Mayor Dick Cavanaugh's family. Cavanaugh is well-known and has a lot of power in the town. When Bloom's two teenage sons, Nate and Skylar, accidentally shoot and kill Dick during a deer hunt, Bloom's long-held loyalty to the Cavanaugh family is put to the test. Skylar, who is still a child, decides to take the blame for his older brother, Nate. He claims that he fired the fatal shot. A quick response from the Cavanaugh family sends Skylar to county jail, where he will soon be tried as an adult for the crime. To get Skylar out of jail and feel bad, Nate does a series of illegal things, which sends them deep into the forest and makes them run for their lives. He has to choose between the law and his sons, and that choice leads to revelations of old family secrets that could destroy everything he loves.
