Death of a Gunfighter

An old-school sheriff in a town that wants to be modern is Frank Patch, the marshal of Cottownwood Springs, Texas. People in the town are ready for a change after his self-defense killing of an intoxicated Luke Mills. Patch refuses to retire on the grounds that the town that hired him had offered him the position for as long as he wanted. Afraid that Patch is privy to all of their darkest secrets, city leaders determine that old-fashioned violence is their only option for ridding themselves of him.
