Anne is a young woman in a Danish village in the early 1600s. Her mother was thought to be a witch, and Anne grows to like Marte, an old woman who is accused of witchcraft. In the end, Anne's older but good-hearted husband Pastor Absalon saved her mother. Now, because his mother wants him to help Marte, he doesn't want to. During the time that Absalon's son comes home and is attracted to Anne, it's only a matter of time before Anne's family destiny comes to her.
