Stanley Kubrick's first black-and-white documentary film. Kubrick self-financed the film, which is based on a photo feature he did for Look magazine in 1949 as a photographer. 'Day of the Fight' depicts Irish-American middleweight boxer Walter Cartier at the peak of his career, on the day of a fight on April 17, 1950, with black middleweight Bobby James.
