10 officers and one citizen went to arrest two brothers for murder on January 2, 1932, just outside Springfield, Missouri. It was the deadliest firefight for law enforcement in American history. This gunfight was the worst for police ever, with nine law enforcement officers and one civilian shot and six killed. The sheriff had lived next door to the brothers' family for years, so they didn't expect any difficulty; they were mistaken.
