Colewell
In the small Pennsylvania town of Colewell, people go to the post office to get their mail and talk while the days pass quietly and peacefully. That is, until the office is going to close, and beloved clerk Nora (played by the wonderful Karen Allen) has to fight for her job and think about the choices she has made that have kept her in Colewell for so long. Tom Quinn's beautiful film is a tribute to small-town life and the quiet feelings that come with nostalgia and memories of the past. It is touching and a little bit sad. Nora says, "I don't want to be lonely," but it's not clear what she means by that as she worries about her future and remembers her past. Colewell does a beautiful job of capturing rural America while letting the beauty of time pass and making the reader think about what makes a life well lived.
