Billy Bigelow has been dead for 15 years. He was a legendary filmmaker. He had long since waived his right to return to Earth for a single day while he was still outside the golden gates. According to what he has heard, he has a family problem: specifically, with his wife Julie Bigelow (née Jordan) and their child, whom he has never met. He would now wish to return to Earth in order to assist in the resolution of the situation; but, he must first obtain permission from the gatekeeper by telling him the story that he has been told about him. Adapted from the popular Broadway musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
