Brown Sugar
Sidney is a writer who just left her job at the L.A. Times to work at XXL, a hip-hop magazine in New York City. Dre is a New York-based hip-hop record label executive. Both of them learned about hip-hop for the first time when they were young. They've known each other ever since then. However, Sidney maintains she isn't interested in Dre romantically and Dre is going to marry a lawyer, which makes their relationship less than ideal. As time goes on, Dre is getting more and more fed up with his company's focus on profit over art. This leads to him signing the gimmicky duo Ren and Ten while not signing the talented Chris.
