Naturalist's gofer Axel tags fish in New York City. His uncle's wedding is taking place in Arizona, and a messenger has arrived to take him there. It's a ploy to entice Axel to join the family company, after all. Axel encounters two strange ladies in Arizona: vibrant, needy, and afflicted by neuroses and familial strife. A wealthy but downtrodden woman plays accordion for a swarm of pet turtles while the man falls in love with the other.
