A vending machine theft by small-time thief and drug addict Bobbie (Vincent Kartheiser) goes horribly wrong, and Bobbie's buddies seek help from street-wise thief and part-time druggie Mel (James Woods) to get him back on the right track. A kindred soul, Mel makes friends with Bobbie, as well as his girlfriend Rosie (Natasha Gregson Wagner), and invites them to come along with him and his long-suffering lover Sid (Melanie Griffith) on a narcotics robbery that should set them up for life. Despite the fact that the robbery appears to have been straightforward, the subsequent drug transaction goes horribly wrong, and Mel and Bobbie are shot. For protection, the Reverend charges them half of their heist proceeds in exchange for taking care of the four. In a desperate attempt to recoup their losses, Mel enlists the help of the crew in a disastrous and ill-advised jewelry robbery, and the group becomes entangled in a web of violence that quickly spirals out of control.
