Alone in Berlin

In June of 1940, Berlin was at war. While Nazi propaganda celebrates the regime's victory over France, a Prenzlauer Berg kitchen-turned-living room is filled with grief. The son of Anna and Otto Quangel was killed at the front. This working-class couple had long believed in the Führer and willingly followed him, but now they realize that his promises are nothing more than lies and deception. They start writing postcards as a form of protest and to raise awareness: Stop the war machine! Hitler must be killed! They distribute these cards in tenement building entrances and stairwells, putting their lives in danger. However, the SS and Gestapo are quickly on their tail, and even their neighbors pose a threat.
