Claus Michael Pedersen and his soldiers are currently stationed in Helmand, Afghanistan. Maria, Claus's wife, struggles to maintain a normal life in Denmark while her husband is away at war and their three children mourn him. During a routine mission, the soldiers are trapped in intense crossfire from the Taliban. In order to save his men, Claus makes a move that ultimately leads to him being charged with a war crime upon his return to Denmark.
