As a way of reconnecting with his family after a year of living in a state of regret, Jack Carter, together with his technology-obsessed family and their adorable dog Buster, goes on a family Christmas vacation to the mountains in the hopes of rekindling their relationship. While on vacation, Jack and his family come face to face with an estranged, uber-competitive buddy of Jack's who has moved to the life of luxury that Jack longs for. Jack discovers through a series of adolescent competitions that the love of his family is more fulfilling than anything money could ever purchase.
