A Cowgirl's Story

Dusty Rhodes is a new student at Jefferson High, and she stands out like a cowgirl. Dusty is a true Texas cowgirl. Her father is a Special Forces Army Ranger, while her mother is a helicopter pilot. Dusty is an outcast at first, but she gradually finds friends with a group that includes Savanah, a girl whose father was killed three years ago while fighting in Iraq. Despite the fact that Savanah is a bit Goth and Dusty is all cowgirl, they share a special bond. Dusty persuades the school to establish an Equestrian Drill Team, and she recruits her new city slicker pals to join. Dusty is dealing with the concerns that come with her mother fighting in Afghanistan as she and the team practice.
