Wycliffe
Based on the novels by W. J. Burley, Wycliffe is a British television series that follows the exploits of Detective Superintendent Charles Wycliffe. Produced by HTV and shown on the ITV Network from 24 July 1994 until 5 July1998, after an initial pilot episode aired on 7 August 1993. Truro, Cornwall served as the series' production hub. The series' music, composed by Nigel Hess, won the Royal Television Society award for best television theme. Jack Shepherd portrays Wycliffe, with DS Doug Kersey and DS Lucy Lane as his colleagues. Throughout each season, detectives work to solve a murder. The early series are based on Burley's books and are told in a traditional whodunit style, frequently featuring offbeat characters and plot twists. The show's tone gets more realistic as the show's focus shifts to police department politics in later seasons.
