Wild West
From October 2002 to April 2004, Dawn French and Catherine Tate starred in the situation comedy Wild West. It was billed as a dark comedy written by Simon Nye and shot on location in Cornwall. Wild West, which takes place in the Cornish hamlet of St. Gweep, focuses on the peculiar happenings in the local community. This sitcom focuses mostly on Mary Trewednack and her life partner Angela, but there are numerous additional characters. The first series of the sitcom was planned to air on BBC1 at prime time, when its peculiarities were met with a negative critical and popular response; however, a second series was commissioned, and both series have been praised in retrospect. The majority of the sitcom was filmed in the Cornwall village of Portloe.
