Ultraman Max was a 2005 Ultraman television series created by Tsuburaya Productions and Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting Co., Ltd. With the exception of Ultraman Nexus, the show attempted to revert to its original format of introducing new monsters every week and being a fast-paced series, as in prior seasons. Three original cast members from the first Ultraman series appear in an episode, along with updated versions of iconic monsters such as the Red King, Eleking, and Pigmon, among others. A peculiar episode focuses on the filming of the 1964 program Ultra Q, which preceded the first Ultraman broadcast in 1966. Two of the show's actors appear as themselves.
