It's the 2030s. Boys of the Boy Detectives Club congregate around the enigmatic detective Kogoro Akechi. The members of the group work together to tackle problems of all sizes. Kensuke Hanazaki, a member of the club, bumps into Yoshio Kobayashi one day, and the two become friends. He can't die because of the "Unidentifiable Mist," but it doesn't stop Kobayashi from wishing he could. Hanazaki takes an interest in him and invites him to join the Boy Detectives Club, which he does. There is a connection between their encounter and the fate that binds Kogoro Akechi and the Fiend With Twenty Faces, the era's greatest villain.
