The Tribe
The Tribe is a New Zealand/British teen-oriented post-apocalyptic TV series. All adults have been killed by a virus, leaving children to fend for themselves. The show focuses on a metropolis of children and teens. Filmed in and around Wellington, New Zealand. Raymond Thompson and Harry Duffin devised the series, which Cloud 9 Screen Entertainment Group and Channel 5 produced. It's on 40 networks worldwide. It premiered on Channel 5 on April24,1999, and instantly acquired fans. Five seasons and 260 half-hour episodes were produced 1999-2003. Series 6 was supposed to begin filming in2003, however Channel 5's Nick Wilson and Raymond Thompson felt "the ensemble was getting too elderly and the series was stretching the fundamental proposition." They thought the characters were no longer orphans. The show was canceled. On 6 September2003, Channel 5 aired the final two episodes.
