The Penguins of Madagascar is an American computer-generated-image (CGI) animated TV show that airs on Nickelodeon. As part of "Superstuffed Nicktoons Weekend" on November 29, 2008, a pilot episode called "Gone in a Flash" aired. On March 28, 2009, The Penguins of Madagascar became a regular series. The premiere of the show was watched by 6.1 million people, which is a new record for the most people to watch a premiere. The Penguins of Madagascar doesn't take place at a specific time in the franchise, even though it sometimes makes references to the other movies. McGrath, who also helped make the characters in the movies, has said that the series takes "I didn't care if they went back to the zoo before or after the movie. I think of it as happening in a world that is different from ours."
