The Millionaire is an American anthology series that first aired on CBS from January19, 1955 through June8, 1960 under the sponsorship of Colgate-Palmolive. During the Golden Age of Television, the series examined the ways in which sudden and unexpected wealth altered life for the better or for the worse, and it was a five-season hit. With one exception, it recounted the experiences of individuals who received $1,000,000 from a donor who stipulated they never see him. In syndication, the programme was known by two names: The Millionaire and If You Had a Million.
