The Land Before Time is an animated television series based on the Land Before Time film series created by Judy Freudberg and Tony Geiss. Ford Riley created it for television for Universal Animation Studios and Amblin Entertainment, and it debuted on YTV in Canada on January5, 2007 as a test. The show debuted on Cartoon Network in the United States on March5,2007, after the DVD release of The Land Before Time XII: The Great Day of the Flyers. It first aired on Boomerang in the United Kingdom on April16, 2007. It debuted on Kids Station in Japan in May 2007. The first season premiered on Cartoon Network India on April7, 2008. Since March 2008, the show has not broadcast on Cartoon Network in the United States or on YTV in Canada. It premiered on Spacetoon on January1,2011, following the closure of Spacetoon English and the rebranding of the Spacetoon Group. It debuted on Tv Russia on May2,2009, following the closure of TV Russia Service Television. It was created as a traditional animation with computer-generated backgrounds, similar to the previous sequels from The Land Before Time X: The Great Longneck Migration forward, with occasional cel-shaded computer animated characters in wide views. Red Claw, a wicked Tyrannosaurus, and Screech and Thud, two henchman Velociraptors, are the series' principal adversaries. The TV series takes place after the events of The Land Before Time XIII: The Wisdom of Friends.
