Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese produced the fake reality show The Joe Schmo Show. Cable network Spike carries the show in the United States. Targets are made to believe they are contestants on a reality television show, but in reality, all of the other players, including the host, are actors who have been scripted to provoke comic emotions from their targets, and the show's ending is no exception. There were two seasons of The Joe Schmo Show and Joe Schmo2, which aired in 2003 and 2004 respectively. Hoaxes for reality competition shows were used for the first season, while a dating program modeled after The Bachelor was used for the second. 'The Joe Schmo Show' returned for a third season on Spike on January8,2013, as announced on December 10th, 2012. Ralph Garman, the show's "emcee" for all three seasons, has been the single constant in the show's three seasons.
