The Hospital is a 2006 Taiwanese drama starring Jerry Yan, Leon Dai, Janine Chang, Zhang Guozhu, Ng Man Tat and Tang Zhiping. Cài Yuè Xun directed the film, which was produced by Yang Ming International Production. The series consists of thirty-nine 60-minute episodes and aired on China Television from Monday, August 15, 2006 through Friday, October 6, 2006 at 20:00 on weekdays. The Hospital's plot is based on Hou Wenyong's Chinese novel of the same name, published in 2000. It illustrates the struggle for power and status in a Taiwanese hospital linked with a national university, as well as the community's human relations. Due to the similarities in title and setting, Hou's novel is frequently compared to Toyoko Yamasaki's Shiroi Kyt. In Asia, television adaptations of both novels have been produced. In 2007, the drama was nominated for eight Golden Bell Awards and won two, including Best Directing for a Television Series and Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series.
