Valerie Cherish, a comedy veteran who has been out of the public eye for more than a decade, strives to return to the industry that made her famous in 2005. Valerie obtains a job on a new network sitcom, but struggles with being an old, unimportant actor in an increasingly youthful Hollywood, while her every action on and off the set is being filmed for a reality program. When the cameras finally catch up with Valerie in2014, she gets cast in the HBO series Seeing Red, which chronicles the career of the comedy writer/producer who tormented her nine years previously.
