The Beat explores the personal and professional lives of two new police recruits patrolling the streets of New York. The daily operations of the city are viewed through the bloodshot eyes of Officers Mike Dorigan and Zane Marinelli, two young, irreverent companions who are true products of their generation and metropolitan setting. Race issues, disproportionate police force, and the unpredictable eccentricity of New York's outspoken natives cause both guys to rely on their sense of humor to make it through their shift.
