Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica is a reality television show produced and broadcast by MTV and MuchMusic. It followed the marriage of Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson. The show debuted in August 2003 and ran for three seasons, totaling 41 episodes. The final season began on January 26, 2005, and ended on March 30, 2005. Simpson and Lachey married on October26,2002, and divorced on December16, 2005. Jessica and Nick divorced on June30, 2006. The show's gimmick included exposing Simpson's naive attitude, which played on the widespread image of "stupid blondes." Perhaps the most famous example is from the first episode, in which Simpson, when confronted with a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna, questioned Nick "Is what I have chicken or fish? I know it's tuna, but it reads 'Chicken... by the Sea' on the label."
