New Worlds is a gripping four-part miniseries about love, loss, and the price people paid to give us the freedoms and rights we have now. We follow the lives of Beth, Hope, Abe, and Ned, four young people from both sides of the Atlantic who are caught up in these hard times. We watch them struggle as they are torn between love and their ideals in a harsh world that is always changing. In England, Charles II's restored monarchy has broken its promises and gone back to being a dictator. Behind the decadence of the Court is a terror machine that is taking away the freedoms that the people won after Charles I was killed in the English Civil War. In America, the English colonists in New England who are trying to break free from the English Crown are threatened by the government. At the same time, the colonists are violently claiming the Native American Indians' land and shedding a lot of blood in the process. This is a chilling reminder of the tyrannical behavior they were trying to get away from when they crossed the Atlantic.
