Moonlighting is an American television series that ran on ABC between 3 March 1985 and 14 May 1989. The network aired 66 programs in all. The show, which starred Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd as private investigators, had a mixture of drama, comedy, and romance, and was regarded as one of the earliest and most prominent instances of comedy-drama, or "dramedy," as a unique television genre. Al Jarreau, a jazz singer, performed the show's theme tune, which became a smash. The show is also regarded with making Willis a star and giving Shepherd her first critical breakthrough after a succession of unsuccessful efforts. "The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice" placed #34 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time in 1997. The series was named one of Time magazine's "100 Best TV Shows of All Time" in 2007. David and Maddie were listed on TV Guide's list of the greatest television couples of all time.
