The year is Post-Disaster 343 Mars has been successfully terraformed and colonized by humanity, at than three hundred years after the "Calamity War" between Mars and Earth. However, despite their technical accomplishments, the humans on Mars desire independence from Earth's government and to enhance their standard of living. Moreover, while the majority of Mars' states have achieved sovereignty, the planet's economic progress is almost entirely dependent on Earth. A young orphan named Mikazuki Augus is part of a group of children employed by the civilian security firm Chryse Guard Security, which is charged with the protection of the Martian princess Kudelia Aina Bernstein, who intends for Chryse to achieve independence from Earth. The gang was attacked one day by the Earth Military organization Gjallarhorn, whose mission is to stop the Martian independence movement. During the attack, Orga Itsuka, the head of the children and the Third Army Division under CGS, chooses to rebel against the adults and higher-ups who had fled, leaving the children and foot-soldiers to remain and fight as decoys. As he stumbles upon the renowned mobile suit, the Gundam Barbatos, Augus must now decide whether to follow his buddies or his objective.
