In one of the world's most hazardous and complicated countries, Michael Palin sets out on a trip of epic proportions and profound revelation. Michael plans to travel the more than a thousand kilometers along the Tigris River, from its headwaters in eastern Turkey to the Persian Gulf, to get a feel for the daily lives of Iraq's 40 million residents. It's one of the few places on Earth he hasn't been, but he's wanted to learn more about it ever since he was a kid. Michael is interested in learning more about Iraq, which is widely referred to as the "cradle of civilization," as well as its turbulent current.
