Mad Men
Mad Men takes place in the 1960s, at first at the made-up advertising agency Sterling Cooper on Madison Avenue in New York City, and later at the new firm Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce in the Time-Life Building at 1271 Avenue of the Americas. According to the show's pilot, the phrase "mad men" was made up by Madison Avenue advertisers in the 1950s as a way to refer to themselves. The show is mostly about Don Draper, who is creative director at Sterling Cooper and a founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, and the people in his life, both at work and outside of it. The plot focuses on the business of the agencies as well as the personal lives of the characters, showing how the moods and social norms of the United States in the 1960s changed all the time.
