Mad About You was a television show that aired on NBC from September 23, 1992, to May 24, 1999. Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt feature as a newlywed pair in New York City. Paul Buchman, a documentary filmmaker, was played by Reiser. Jamie Stemple Buchman, a public relations expert, was played by Hunt. The couple had a baby daughter, Mabel, at the end of the show's run. The story focuses mostly on the newlyweds as they deal with anything from minor irritations to significant challenges. The sitcom has been compared to Seinfeld, another NBC comedy about thirty-somethings in New York City, for its tendency to find humour in genuine circumstances and observational banter. Last season, Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser were paid $1 million per episode. The sitcom was shifted away from its Tuesday slot to support NBC's nascent Monday night comedy lineup, and viewership plummeted. The series ended with "The Final Frontier," the series' final episode. Reiser and Don Was wrote the show's theme tune, "Final Frontier." The theme was first performed by Andrew Gold, but Anita Baker took it for the second half of the 1997 season.
