ITV is the broadcaster of the British television series Kingdom, which was created by Parallel Film and Television Productions and aired there. It was developed by Simon Wheeler, and Stephen Fry plays the role of Peter Kingdom, a solicitor in Norfolk who is dealing with his family, his colleagues, and the weird locals who come to him for legal advice. Wheeler is the show's creator. Hermione Norris, Celia Imrie, Karl Davies, Phyllida Law, and Tony Slattery were a few of the other actors who appeared in the series. The first season, which consisted of six episodes each lasting one hour and was shown in 2007, attracted an average of six million viewers per week. The executive chairman of ITV appreciated the program and requested a second series, which was produced in 2007 and broadcast in January and February of 2008. This occurred despite a ratings drop that occurred midway through the first season. The filming of the third series took place between July and September of 2008, and it first aired on June 7, 2009. In October 2009, Stephen Fry claimed on his blog that ITV was going to cancel the series. This was later confirmed by the channel, which stated that due to tighter budgets, more expensive programs were being removed. Stephen Fry has since apologized for his announcement.
