The American superhero Green Lantern serves as the inspiration for the computer-animated television series Green Lantern: The Animated Series, which is produced in the United States. On November 11, 2011, an hour-long preview episode was broadcast, and the show itself lasted from November 11, 2011 through March 16, 2013, with a new episode being broadcast every week. On October 15, 2011, at New York Comic Con 2011, a special screening of the first episode was shown to the audience. This is the first television series based on the Green Lantern character, as well as the first DC/WB series to use computer-generated imagery. The series was canceled after only one season for a combination of reasons, including poor toy sales resulting from the release of the live-action movie and the desire of Cartoon Network to prioritize new episodes in the "DC Nation" block.
