The Fox Network aired Get a Life from September23,1990, until March8, 1992. Chris Elliott portrays paperboy Chris Peterson, 30. Peterson resided in a garage-apartment. The opening credits show Chris Peterson carrying newspapers to R.E.M.'s "Stand" The show's creators were Elliott, Adam Resnick, and David Mirkin. Mirkin was the show's executive producer/showrunner and most of its director. Writers of the series featured Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich) and Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show with Bob and David, Tenacious D). Many of the episode plots were strange for a primetime sitcom. In 12 episodes, Elliott's character dies. Crushing by a boulder, old age, tonsillitis, stab wounds, bullet wounds, falling from an airplane, strangled, being run over by cars, choking on cereal, and bursting were all causes of death. Because of this, Elliott and Mirkin struggled to get the show on the air. Fox Network execs loathed the show and thought Elliott's persona was too crazy.
