Naota is a typical Japanese sixth grader (albeit a touch cynical), but when his elder brother travels for America to play baseball, he leaves behind his 17-year-old lover Mamimi. Mamimi is sending contradictory signals and advances to Naota, and he is at a loss for what to do. To make matters worse, Naota's life is turned upside down when he gets hit by a woman on a Vespa. During their first meeting, she knocks him over the head with her instrument, causing a horn to emerge from his forehead. She introduces herself as "Haruko," and her presence drives Naota insane.
